Did you know that Government of Canada cheques are never considered stale-dated? No matter how old these cheques are, you can still cash them. Note that, however, when you try to cash really old cheques, the financial institution that you go to may attempt to verify the legitimacy of the cheque or even suggest that the cheque is stale-dated (which obviously cannot be true).

If you are having trouble cashing an old federal government cheque, you can send it to the Cheque Redemption and Control Directorate (at the following address) and request to have it reissued.[1]
