COVID-19 Update

 In APBS Blog

As we all know, the COVID-19 is here and along with it the guidelines concerning social distancing. We appreciate your cooperation in following the policies in order to help ensure the safety of our staff and clients and the community at large. We recognize this is an especially difficult time for all business owners. We, just like you, are doing everything we can to reduce the chance of contracting the virus. We will have a separate email concerning the government response and also the personal income tax season. This email just concerns how we at APBS are handling things in continuing to support you. As this is an evolving situation, these details are subject to change with ongoing circumstances. We will keep you updated as much as possible.

Our office remains open with many staff working from home. We will continue to handle whatever work is required. For the time being, our office door will be locked even though the business is open. Please be advised that as staff may call from cell phones, you may receive calls from us from phone numbers you do not recognize or a blocked number.

Please send us information wherever possible by email or fax or courier. We can also have meetings by phone or video call if you prefer. Contact us and we can work out the logistics for that. If you must come to our office or arrange a delivery for whatever reason, please let us know in advance so that we can schedule with you.

If you are entering the office, please wash your hands or use the provided hand sanitizer and please adhere to social distancing policies (6 feet between people). When you are dropping things off, we kindly request that you drop it off and keep the meeting as short as possible. We can discuss any particular information by phone after or before you arrive. If you have fever, runny nose or cough, or are just feeling unwell, please do not come to the office. If you have a travel history or contact with someone positive for COVID-19, please do not come to the office.

If you are scanning a document to be sent to us, please verify the number of pages, T-slips or other documents that you are sending. Scanners can always miss or skip pages by accident. The penalties for missing documents on a personal tax return can be quite hefty.

Some of you have used your cell phone to take pictures of documents to send to us. If you do this, please use an app (such as Camscanner or Scannable or other scanning app). These will turn the page into a document with only the necessary information. Alternatively try to be very careful in positioning your document clearly in the frame with good lighting to ensure legibility.

As we stated, we will have additional information in subsequent emails with more information from the government regarding programs or tax extensions. We are committed to providing you with the same quality and timeliness of service while protecting our staff and clients.

We appreciate your cooperation through this difficult time.
Take care and stay healthy.
